Discussions about the life cycle assessment of buildings are gaining momentum. A study commissioned by the Federal Association of the German Brick Industry shows: Over two thirds of German residential buildings over 50 years old are made of brick. Nevertheless, bricks are often underestimated in ecological analyses. For sustainable construction and the circular economy, the data is an important stimulus. Attila Gerhäuser, Managing Director of the Federal Association, emphasizes the longevity of brick buildings and calls for appropriate consideration in the ecological assessment.
