The old trade fair town Leipzig with its channels and the river Weiße Elster is increasingly becoming a “harbour town”. The vivid district Plagwitz cannot be compared to Venice but you can live by the water as well. The former classic working class neighbourhood quickly developed to a cultural trendy area over the past years. The attractive lofts and city mansions with classy equipment in the road Nonnenstraße finished in 2017 and designed by architect’s office Osterwald°Schmidt also led to this rise.
The buildings which are predominantly clad with bricks provide the typical reference to this place and add a long-term value. The façades match in style to the adjacent buildings – namely historic buildings with industrial look – and relate to the river Weiße Elster. A mix of thin bricks R773DF, R756DF and R734DF contributes to this harmony. The accent masonry on the ground floor underlines the expressiveness of the façade. The accentuated brick façade was created by a combination of thin bricks with 14 mm and 25 mm thickness. The anthracite high-contrast jointing mortar particularly emphasizes the look of the bricks. Feldhaus bricks made the trendy crane houses in the liveable district near the river Weiße Elster absolutely unique.
